Laboratory Testing

Laboratory testing to determine chemical, physical-chemical, microbiological, and functional parameters of cargo.

Accredited Laboratory Testing

Objective Data on Cargo Quality Parameters

Laboratory testing is required when visual inspection, organoleptic assessment, or on-site express measurements are insufficient for a comprehensive evaluation of cargo quality and condition. It provides objective results for parameters that are essential for acceptance, dispatch, claims management, quality inspection, or the resolution of commercial disputes.

Total Cargo Inspection utilizes a network of accredited Bulgarian and international laboratories to perform testing across a wide range of cargo types. Analyzed parameters are tailored to the cargo type, contractual specifications, and transaction-specific technical criteria.

What the Service Includes

Scope of Laboratory Testing

Selection of Analytical Parameters

Determination of the applicable laboratory parameters based on cargo type, contractual specifications, and technical requirements.

Collection of Representative Samples

Preparation and submission of representative samples for testing in strict accordance with standardized methodologies and requirements.

On-Site Express Testing

Rapid assessment of quality parameters, condition, and compliance of goods using specialized measuring equipment. This includes determination of moisture, impurities, density, test weight (hectoliter mass), temperature, particle size distribution, radiation levels, and other cargo-specific parameters.

Chemical & Physical-Chemical Testing

Analysis of composition, active components, acidity, pH, electrical conductivity, density, viscosity, and other critical parameters.

Analysis of Impurities & Contaminants

Determination of purity, the type and level of impurities, heavy metals, toxic elements, and other hazardous contaminants.

Functional Testing

Assessment of operational performance, functional performance, and compliance of goods, including the detection of deviations, non-conformities, and latent defects.

Organoleptic Evaluation

Verification of properties such as appearance, odour, taste, uniformity, and other criteria when mandated by standards or contractual clauses.

Formal Certification of Results

Receipt and provision of laboratory data to support cargo acceptance, claims management, quality inspection, and strategic commercial decisions.

Practical Application

When Laboratory Testing Is Needed

Laboratory testing is particularly applicable when:

  • The quality or condition of cargo must be confirmed through measurable parameters;
  • The contract or technical specification explicitly mandates laboratory testing;
  • There is suspicion of impurities, contamination, deviations in composition, or quality degradation;
  • Agricultural, food, petroleum, mineral, textile, or industrial cargo is involved;
  • Verifiable data is required to support a claim, dispute, insurance case, or cargo acceptance;
  • On-site express assessment is insufficient for making a final commercial decision.
How the process works

Stages of Execution

1

Request & Clarification of Parameters

The client provides details regarding the cargo, the purpose of the analysis, contractual requirements, and the specific parameters to be tested.

2

Sampling Preparation

The team clarifies the standardized method for collecting, packaging, marking, and submitting representative samples.

3

Sample Collection & Submission

Samples are carefully prepared and dispatched for laboratory testing according to applicable standards and the cargo type.

4

Laboratory Testing

Chemical, physical-chemical, functional, microbiological, or other analyses are carried out according to the requested scope.

5

Provision and Documentation of Results

The client receives verified laboratory data to support cargo acceptance, quality inspection, claims management, or strategic commercial decisions.

Evidential Value

Results That Support Quality Inspection

Laboratory test results provide measurable and verifiable data regarding the quality, composition, and condition of cargo. These results serve as essential evidence for cargo acceptance, quality inspection, claims management, insurance claims, technical expert opinions, and the definitive resolution of commercial disputes.

Key tested parameters include: purity, impurities, chemical composition, active components, moisture, ash content, proteins, fats, crude fibres, acidity, pH, density, viscosity, heavy metals, toxic elements, alongside microbiological, organoleptic, and functional properties.
